RiverWoods Exeter Announces Major Charitable Partnership with Seacoast Family Promise:
Exeter retirement community’s outreach effort to culminate in October 2018 gala fundraiser with fellow nonprofit.
Exeter, NH (June 6, 2017) – Residents at RiverWoods Exeter have selected Seacoast Family Promise (SFP) of Exeter as the recipient of the retirement community’s two year partnership to culminate in a major fundraising gala event in October 2018 at RiverWoods Exeter.
From the first year RiverWoods Exeter opened, the community has held a fundraiser for another local nonprofit. The most recent RiverWoods Exeter Gala Auction raised a record $120,000 in one night for Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Exeter. The record breaking evening was held at RiverWoods Exeter Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) last fall with more than 400 in attendance. RiverWoods Exeter staff and residents donated hundreds of hours of time during the multi-year partnership.
Residents at RiverWoods Exeter recently selected SFP from a pool of 22 local nonprofits—all of them focusing on family health and well-being. Founded in 2003, SFP helps families experiencing homelessness find stable housing and lasting self-sufficiency. The organization works with 1,300 community volunteers annually, including faith communities of all denominations, businesses and community organizations. More than 87 percent of the families who have gone through SFP’s program have secured permanent housing and have remained stable since SFP founding 14 years ago.
“Seacoast Family Promise is honored to have been chosen by RiverWoods Exeter as their partner,” says Pati Frew-Waters, Executive Director of Seacoast Family Promise. “The need is always growing and we are always striving to meet that need. It’s our hope that this partnership allows us to tell our story to more people, expand our reach, and help as many families as possible meet their challenges and achieve lasting sufficiency.”
Today, the RiverWoods Exeter community contributes hundreds of hours each year to numerous nonprofits. The 2018 RiverWoods Exeter Gala is part of a more two decade long tradition of investing in social capital which has meant more than $600,000 for local charities from a total of ten galas. Both RiverWoods Exeter and Seacoast Family Promise feel the value of this partnership will be shown not only in dollars, but in the strength it brings to the greater community.
“With so many worthy applicants-- It was a difficult decision to select just one partner.” said RiverWoods Exeter Outreach Committee Co-Chair, Penny Teodorczyk. “Seacoast Family Promise serves an important need in this community and builds lasting community and that is one of our primary goals for the partnership. This is a strong opportunity for RiverWoods Exeter residents and staff to help SFP make a positive and sustainable impact for Seacoast families in need and we couldn’t be more excited.”
